(Leader)The most wise, righteous, and gracious God, doth oftentimes leave for a season His own children to manifold temptations, and the corruption of their own hearts, to chastise them for their former sins, or to discover unto them the hidden strength of corruption, and deceitfulness of their hearts.
(All) Then Hezekiah humbled himself for the pride of his heart, he and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so that the wrath of the LORD did not come upon them in the days of Hezekiah. However, regarding the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, whom they sent to him to inquire about the wonder that was done in the land, God withdrew from him, in order to test him, that He might know all that was in his heart. (2 Chronicles 32:26, 31)
(Leader) Again the anger of the LORD was aroused against Israel, and He moved David against them to say, "Go, number Israel and Judah." (2 Samuel 24:1)
(All)This departure of God for a season is to humble us; to make us more watchful against all future occasions of sin, and to raise us to a more close and constant dependence upon Him for our support for sundry other just and holy ends.
(Leader) As Paul said, “Lest I should be exalted above measure, through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.”(2 Cor. 12:7)

Psalm 117C
Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! O all you people, every nation, shout his praises; for so great, yes, so magnificent has been the loving kindness he has shown to us. And the truth of the Lord is everlasting – give the Lord all praise; and the truth of the Lord is everlasting – give the Lord all praise.

RememberThem

  • "And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled." ~ (Rev 6:9-11)
