- Confession of Faith WCF 18.4
True believers may have the assurance of their salvation shaken, diminished, and intermitted in various ways.;
By negligence in preserving of it; by falling into some special sin, which wounds the conscience, and grieves the Spirit; by some sudden or vehement temptation;
By God’s withdrawing the light of his countenance, and suffering even such as fear him to walk in darkness, and to have no light.
Yet we are never utterly destitute of that seed of God, and life of faith, that love of Christ and the brethren, that sincerity of heart and conscience of duty,
Out of which, by the operation of the Spirit, this assurance may in due time be revived, and by the which, in the meantime, we are supported from utter despair.
Make me hear joy and gladness, That the bones You have broken may rejoice. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit.
Deliver me from the guilt of bloodshed, O God, The God of my salvation, And my tongue shall sing aloud of Your righteousness. (Psa. 51)
Will the Lord cast off forever? And will He be favorable no more? Has His mercy ceased forever? Has His promise failed forevermore? Has God forgotten to be gracious? Has He in anger shut up His tender mercies? Selah.
And I said, “This is my anguish; But I will remember the years of the right hand of the Most High.” (Psa. 77:7–10)
But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail.” (Luke 22:32a)

- Now Blessed Be Jehovah God
Now blessed be Jehovah God, the God of Israel, who only doeth wondrous works, in glory that excel; who only doeth wondrous works, in glory that excel.
And blessed be his glorious name to all eternity; the whole earth let his glory fill; amen: so let it be; the whole earth let his glory fill; amen: so let it be.

  • "And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled." ~ (Rev 6:9-11)
